Portraits Latents

Portraits latents est une mise une lumière de quatre auteurs de la création théâtrale africaine contemporaine distingués en 2005 : Dieudonné Niangouna, Koffi Kwahulé, Koulsy Lamko, et Marcel Zang.

Ce travail n’est pas une simple représentation photographique, mais une composition plastique en rapport avec chacun des auteurs. L’écoute de leurs mots, l’attention portée à leur environnement, à leurs objets ont construit le sens de chaque ensemble. Le travail a été réalisé avec leur complicité ; ils m’ont accueilli une semaine chacun. Le résultat est sensiblement différent d’un portrait à l’autre et les titres des séries évoquent leurs différents univers.

Latent Portraits

This work brings to light four contemporary African play writers  distinguished in 2005: Dieudonné Niangouna, Koffi Kwahulé, Koulsy Lamko, and Marcel Zang.

Its main intention is to provide a sensitive approach of the chosen authors. Not just a photographic representation, but a plastic composition related to each of them. The meaning of each set has been developed by listening to their words, paying attention to their objects and their environment. The work was carried out with the authors’ complicity; each one welcomed me for a week. The result is significantly different from one portrait to another and the titles of the series reflect their different worlds.

The exhibition and the book « Portraits latents » were commissioned by the Afaa (French Institute).
