Exposition réalisée dans le cadre d’une résidence à l’Usine Peugeot Citroën de Saint-Ouen -France, avec le compositeur Nicolas Frize.

Fruit d’une approche sensible du monde du travail, les images abordent la place de l’humain dans un univers rationalisé pour la production, les mouvements et gestes quotidiens ainsi que le lieu, ses codes et les objets produits dans l’usine.

This exhibition was produced in the frame of a residence at the Peugeot-Citroën factory at St Ouen city, France with the French composer Niclas Frize.

The result was a sensitive approach of the labour world. The images are about the place of human beings in such rationalized universe for production economy, movements and everyday’s gestures, the place, its codes and the objects produced by the factory.

Ces images sont réalisées à partir des archives photographiques de Nabil Boutros d’Égypte et devant lesquelles il a placé une grille de mots arabes en écriture kufique orthogonale. Ces mots antagonistes, entre promesses et menaces, forment des grilles, labyrinthes ou moucharabiehs et entravent la vue des images.

These images are made of Nabil Boutros Egyptian archives. In front of them, he placed a grid, made up of Arabic words and written in the orthogonal Kufic script. These words are Antagonist between promises and threats – in the shape of grids, mazes, or wooden lattices  – hamper the vision of images.

Urban Mutations est une action urbaine à Dresde (Allemagne) avec la participation d’artistes du monde Arabe. Cette manifestation cherche à rompre la vision habituelle de la ville en divers lieux.

À la gare et sur plusieurs panneaux d’affichages en ville, les portraits d »Égyptiens » de Nabil Boutros ainsi que ses « Invitations au bonheur » — vraies fausses pubs — obligent les passants à changer d’une perception passive à une prise de conscience active de la réalité…/

Urban Mutations is an urban action at Dresden (Germany) with the participation of artists from the Arab World. It breaks the usual vision of the city in different places.

At the railway station and on many billboards in town, portraits of « Egyptians » by Nabil Boutros and his « Invitation to Happiness » — real false ads — force the passer-by to change his passive perception to an active consciousness of reality…/

La série de photos “Egyptiens” de Nabil Boutros a servi à cette affiche qui été créée en réaction à l’attentat contre une église d’Alexandrie en décembre 2010. 

Distribuée dans quatre grandes villes (Le Caire, Alexandrie, Minya,et Assiout), l’affiche “Tous Égyptiens” était l’initiative de la galerie Darb 1718 et signée par une vingtaine d’institutions culturelles privées en Egypte.

The series of pictures « Egyptians »  by Nabil Boutros has been used to create this poster. It was made to respond to the assault against a church in Alexandria in December 2010. 

The poster « all Egyptians » conceived by the Art Gallery Darb 1718 is signed by 20 Egyptian private cultural institutions and was disseminated in 4 major cities  (Cairo, Alexandria, Minya and Assiout).
