‘THE PARADOX OF THE STONE ’ PART OF ‘MINDS IN A GROOVE’ – DARB 1718, CAIRO / EGYPT

Au lieu de penser par nous-mêmes, il semblerait que nos pensées suivent les tendances. L’exposition Minds in a Groove explore cette conformité cognitive sous l’angle de l’imitation et des apparences. Nous le constatons souvent lorsque les autres, et nous-mêmes, adhérons ou croyons à certains mythes, oubliant souvent leurs origines fabriquées. En retour, le mythe est perçu comme intemporel et incontestable. Ici, la mode est présentée comme un mythe, une métaphore de ce système d’apparences. Liées à ce système, nos pensées sont limitées, coincées dans un sillon.

Instead of thinking for ourselves, it is as though our thoughts were following trends. The exhibition Minds in a Groove explores this cognitive conformity through the lens of imitation and appearances. We often see this when others, and we ourselves, adhere or believe in certain myth, often forgetting their fabricated origins. In return, the myth is perceived as timeless and unquestionable. Here, fashion is presented as a myth, a metaphor for this system of appearances. Bound by this system, our thoughts are limited, stuck in a groove.
